Tailormade Tented Adventures
The idea of the Tailormade Tented Adventures and Trekking adventures
is to go back in time and enjoy the wild and remote areas of Africa
the way it was done in a bygone era, with only basic comfort and
in an effort to come close to Nature herself. By catering for one
party at a time that is guided by a qualified and experienced professional
guide we create a platform for tailor-made, exclusive, memorable
journeys enjoyed in a variety of ways. This is achieved by combining
great, adventurous yet safe guiding, unique flexibility to guest
interests and requests with a comfortable bed, good food in a camp
with vantage location. That’s Tailormade!
Daily Routine (Flexible according
to party interests)
The day usually starts with an early wake-up call followed by a
light breakfast and a hot beverage. At about sunrise guests will
then embark on a morning activity which usually is a combination
of a nature drive/walk or one of the two, a canoe safari or a boat
cruise dependant on the area. This usually takes up to mid morning
to midday when guests return to camp for a brunch type meal. In
the heat of the days guests can go out on another activity, sit
at a pan or along the river with their guide enjoying the scene
and possibly wildlife coming for a midday drink or relax and take
a siesta in their tent or a hammock specially located around the
camp. An afternoon high tea will have the party ready for the afternoon
adventure which is determined by guest interest and wildlife around
the area getting back to the camp just after sunset. Going out
for the whole day is also a popular way of enjoying different moods
as the day progresses.
Dinner is set under the stars with a 3 course bush meal specially
prepared by our bush chef after which guests can sit around the
fire and enjoy the sounds of the night and some stargazing before
retiring to bed.
The Intracacies of the Tented Adventure
Our tented safaris are fully backed up by a crew of 3-4 staff (depending
on the area and number in party) who will take care of the movement,
setup and breakdown of the camp, cooking, waiting and making up
the tents ensuring that guests make the most of the day and the
night with their safari commitments and rest. Camp is lit at night
by paraffin lanterns. Food is cooked in camp over a campfire and
fresh bread baked. Meat, fruit and vegetables are supplied fresh
from reliable suppliers and stored in a refrigerator and when required
the camp will be resupplied during the safari. Mineral water is
supplied for drinking and when ice is available it is made from
safe filtered water. Game drives are conducted in open, custom
built four wheel drive vehicles allowing for great photography.
Transfers on main roads or over long distances are conducted in
closed four wheel drive vehicles.
The Intracacies of the Trekking Adventure
The Trekking adventures are self contained walking trails in the
company of a very experienced professional guide and a learner
guide/tracker. Leaving from a backed up camp guests disappear into
the wilderness for up to 3 nights with the option of backed up
night in between (dependant on area). Sometimes receiving a water
and basic food resupply often dropped off under a shady tree this
experience has to be one of the ways of getting closest to nature.
Guests are supplied with a backpack that contains basic supplies
and water, a lightweight nylon tent, sleeping bag and bedroll.
Distances walked depend on the ability of the party and the pace
of the slowest person is followed. The guide will be armed and
will have communication radios to be in touch with a back up vehicle.
The minimum age on the trekking adventures is 12 years with no
maximum age but because of the nature of the safari a reasonable
level of fitness is required. |
