TENTED ADVENTURES

Sands of the Kalahari - 8 days/7 nights

2 nights Somalisa Camp, Hwange National Park
1 night The Kingdom Hotel, Victoria Falls
2 nights Linyanti Bush Camp
2 nights Kwara Camp, Okavango Delta

Four million years ago there was a sandstorm. One that lasted ten’s of years. In this sandstorm the Kalahari desert gained territory blowing sand as far north as Hwange in Zimbabwe and as far west as areas of Livingstone in Zambia. Small ancient rivers that flowed in these areas were choked to form modern day vleis, areas rich in mineral wealth as a result attracting a large variety of wildlife. To this day the unique habitat that results from a normal rainfall combined with desert sands is home to some of the most diverse wildlife areas. This safari explores the wildlife, flora and fauna in these “artificially” desert areas.

Journey in detail

Somalisa Camp, Hwange National Park - 2 nights

Guests arrive at Victoria Falls international airport and are transferred by road to Somalisa Camp for 3 adventure filled days. Set in the heart of Hwange National Park, known as the land of the giants for its large elephant herds, Somalisa is an authentic 12 bedded bush camp. Activities consist of a combination of guided walks, game drives with spot lighting at night and game viewing from a platform. Highlights include optional up close experiences with wildlife on activities and frequent visits to the plunge pool by elephants and water hole by variety of herbivores and predators.

The Kingdom Hotel Victoria Falls – 1 night
At the end of the stay at Somalisa Camp, guests are driven to the famous Victoria Falls where 1night is spent to allow for a tour of the mighty Victoria Falls, a bit of African Art shopping and the cultural and extreme activities that this part of the Zambezi has to offer. On the list are bungee jumping, gorge swing, skydiving, helicopter or micro-light flight above the falls, walk with tame lion “cubs” and elephant back safaris. An optional traditional “Boma” dinner is a cultural highlight with a large selection of African delicacies and game meat on offer accompanied by a traditional performance. (Please enquire about activities in the Victoria Falls area as we recommend you book in advance)

Linyanti Bush Camp
, Chobe Enclave – 2 nights

From the Victoria Falls your safari leads you, by a combination of a road transfer and a light aircraft transfer to the Linyanti marshes of Botswana for a 2 night stay at Linyanti Bush Camp. This is a small, intimate 12 bedded tented camp on the banks of the Linyanti marshes in a private reserve, on the western edge of Chobe National Park. The camp lends itself to small, exclusive groups who seek a personalised experience in a private concession away from the main travel routes accommodated in tents that overlook the Linyanti Marsh. Activities from the camp include game drives, walking and spot lighting at night with the wildlife highlight being generous concentrations of wildlife that rely on the Linyanti Marshes.

Kwara Camp, Okavango Delta - 2 nights
After the Linyanti Experience you will be transferred by light aircraft to the Okavango Delta for a 2 night stay at Kwara Camp which offers a complete all year round Okavango Delta experience with its combination of activities that include mokoro trips (dug-out canoes), motor boat, fishing, day and night game drives as well as bush walks. Located on the northern edge of the permanent water of the Okavango Delta in a private concession, Kwara has 8 tents that are set under a shady tree island overlooking a lagoon fed by the waters of the Delta. The area surrounding the camp is a mosaic of treed islands, lagoons, channels and grasslands. The tents command views over the surrounding areas which can be enjoyed from a viewing deck.

After your stay in the Okavango Delta you will be transferred to Maun or Victoria Falls by light aircraft for onward travel arrangements as sadly the safari comes to an end.
