Journey in Detail
Sausage Tree
Camp - 2 nights
Upon your arrival at Lusaka International airport, you are met
by our representative and transferred to the Lower Zambezi National
Park by light aircraft. This camp on the banks of the Lower Zambezi
River affords guests many different methods of game viewing including
canoeing through the famous Chifunguli channel, which often provides
a truly classic African wildlife experience. Day and night drives,
walking and fishing are also on the list of activities. Accommodation
is in 6 Bedouin style tents all with open air bathrooms and a great
view of different channels of the Zambezi. Meals are enjoyed under
the African sky.
Old Mondoro Bush
Camp - 2 nights
After a short boat transfer or game drive, guests arrive at this
rustic bush camp set in a grove of Acacia trees on the banks of
the Zambezi River that takes one into the history of safari where
only the bare minimum was necessary and available. Appropriately
constructed of canvas and natural materials, accommodating only
eight guests, the camp has an open and more adventurous feel yet
provides a comfortable retreat after a day filled with excitement
in the bush, where emphasis is placed on non-motorised safari activities
to create an ambience of a bygone era. The Shona word for lion
is Mhondoro and the name Old Mondoro is derived from the local
legend of an old albino lion that used to frequent the area. Being
on the banks of the river activities are varied in this area. After
a 2 night stay at Old Mondoro guests are transferred by road and
then by light aircraft to the South Luangwa national park.
Kalamu
Tented Camp, South Luangwa National Park - 3 nights
The Luangwa River is famous for its hippo battles during the early
summer months when the water levels are not enough to submerge
the hippo population. Experience survival in nature first hand
as the lives of the local crocodile, hyena and lion population
revolve around these battles. Thornicroft giraffe, Cookson’s
wildebeest, large herds of elephants and buffalo are also on the
list of wildlife in the area and a walk in the South Luangwa will
create memories to last a lifetime. Lagoons are often filled with
a large diversity of birdlife. Kalamu Camp is nestled under ebony
and fig trees in a remote area on the banks of the Luangwa. 4 Meru
style tents and a main area with a plunge pool make up this small
camp. At the end of the stay in the Luangwa guests transfer by
light aircraft to the Kafue’s Lunga airstrip and then by
helicopter to the Busanga Plains.
Busanga Bush
Camp, Kafue National Park - 3 nights
Situated in the Northern reaches of the Kafue National Park this
area is amongst the most remote safari areas in Africa. Busanga
is a small intimate bush camp with only 4 tents. The Lufupa River
forms a mid-river delta that is home to large herds of lechwe,
buffalo, puku and many other smaller antelope. Sable, roan antelope,
eland and red hartebeest are a common sighting in the drier months.
The rare and elusive sitatunga is also to be found in the swamps
that remind one of the Okavango delta. In the early summer months
the lions in this area take to the trees to try and escape from
the bother of flies on the ground. This phenomenon is very rare
as these large cats rest for as much as 12 hours at a time in the
fig trees. Due to the vastness of the Busanga plains game drives
are most productive but a bird walk along the palm islands is a
highlight as cranes, coucals and longclaws are part of the everyday
scenery. A helicopter and light aircraft transfer will have the
group in the comfort and surrounds of Stanley Safari Lodge.
Stanley
Safari Lodge, Livingstone - 2 nights
Seductively settled on a hill overlooking unspoilt bush on the
heights of the Victoria Falls, bordering the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National
Park - the smoke that thunders - Stanley Safari Lodge is inspired
by the classical bush experience. From every room at Stanley Safari
Lodge, you can see the distant views of the spray of the Victoria
Falls. With only 10 private cottages it is able to give you an
unmatched level of entirely personalised service and offers a great
hideout to enjoy the activities in the area. Bungee jumping, white-water
rafting, elephant back safaris and flights over the Falls are amongst
the activities on offer. A visit to the Victoria Falls to feel
the spray and see large sheets of water plunging down 100 metres
into the gorge below will be a rewarding experience. On the last
day guests are transferred to Livingstone Airport for their flight
out or for onward arrangements.
Cost of safari starts from US$7 950.00 based on 2 guests travelling.
