The Botswana Mobile Adventure - 9 days/8 nights
3 nights Nxai Pan Mobile Tented
Camp, Okavango Delta
2 nights Okavango Island Camp, Okavango Delta
3 nights Khwai Mobile Tented Camp, Khwai Community Concession
On this mobile safari we spend three nights in each area in semi
- luxurious traditional Meru style tents. Our back-up crew who
set up our camp at each location moves the camp after each stay.
After transfers between areas, we arrive at an already erected
camp with all facilities in place. This experience allows ours
guests to enjoy a safari in the manner of the early explorers – except
in comfort and without having to do the work!
Journey in Detail
Nxai Pan Mobile Camp - 3 nights
On this adventure safari, you will be met by your guide in Maun
for a scenic road transfer to Nxai Pan and if time allows you will
embark on a sun-downer drive that evening. Nxai Pan is well known
for its huge springbok population, extraordinarily large herds
of giraffe
and scattered populations of eland and gemsbok. The elusive brown
hyena, leopard and cheetah are amongst predators in the area. Nxai
Pan is at its peak in the green season (November to April) when
green desert plains are filled with birds and wildlife complimented
by dramatic, beautiful thunderstorms in an area of dotted acacia
trees.
Okavango Island Camp, Okavango Delta - 2 nights
After 3 days of exploring the desert you will be transferred back
to Maun for your light aircraft flight your next camp, which is
situated on an island in the heart of the Delta. Upon arrival at
the airstrip you will go on a game drive and then a boat takes
you through lagoons and the meandering narrow channels lined by
endless papyrus reed banks. The bird life is phenomenal and there’s
the chance you may see elephants crossing the channels. After exploring
the lagoons and channels and sharing the Okavango sunset with nesting
birds, you will arrive at the camp for your night under the stars.
This is an experience that gets you really close to nature as the
only sounds to be heard are that of the wild.
Khwai Mobile Camp, Khwai Concession - 3 nights
After exploring the waterways of the Delta, you will depart on
a game drive for your next camp, stopping along the way for a picnic
lunch. The camp is located bordering the Eastern section of the
Moremi National Park, in an area famous for its community involvement
model where the community have been given the onus of managing
this wildlife rich area thus realising a good income from the safari
activities and reducing the need for subsistence poaching.
Game walks, day and night drives are on the list of activities
in this area characterised by great stands of leadwood and mopane
woodlands in close proximity to open grasslands and the ever surprising
Khwai River. Lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, are the main predators
while a variety of herbivores including impala, elephant, buffalo,
zebra, hippo, and giraffe can be found here.
After breakfast on your last day your guide will transfer you to
the airstrip to connect with your light aircraft charter that will
transfer you to Maun for onward arrangements as the safari comes
to an end.
