Journey in Detail

On this Tailormade journey, get a step closer to nature and enjoy the thrilling experience and adventure of tracking animals on foot. Traversing through areas that are home to Africa’s Big Five with a knowledgeable specialist guide will make spending a few hours with a herd of buffalo or a solitary elephant bull in Mana Pools or tracking the rare and elusive Black Rhinoceros in Matusadonha National Park seem like a walk in the park. Well it is...

Mobile Tented Camp, Mana Pools National Park - 3 nights
Guests arrive at Victoria Falls international airport and after being met by their private guide for a light aircraft transfer to Mana Pools for 3 adventure filled days. Mana Pools is known for its old and ever confident but friendly elephant bulls that wander in search of the nutritious acacia pods in the dry months. With the relaxed wildlife atmosphere in Mana Pools, on foot adventures with cats, dogs and herbivores will characterise this safari. From the low communication rumble to the trumpet of joy at the water’s edge, spending the day with a small herd or solitary elephant will provide an experience and education that words cannot describe. The acceptance of our presence by one of these giants after a few hours is evident and communicated to any other elephants in the area. After a few days of unique experiences in Mana a light air transfer will have the adventure leading the party to Matusadonha National Park on Lake Kariba.

Rhino Island Camp, Matusadonha National Park - 3 nights

Matusadonha National Park is one of the last sanctuaries of the endangered black rhino, one of whom frequents the environs of the Rhino Camp on almost a daily basis to browse and drink from the lake. At the crack of dawn you will leave the camp in search of fresh tracks and once these have been located, the adventure starts. Wind direction, cover and stealth are all factors that will be put into consideration and practice in order to create a reward that is experienced by very few guests on safari. Elephant bulls, antelope and predators are also encountered on these walks. Accommodating a maximum of twelve guests Rhino Camp provides the perfect atmosphere for such a thrilling adventure.

Somalisa Camp, Hwange National Park – 3 nights
After your stay in Matusadonha, you will fly to Hwange for a three-night stay at Somalisa Bush Camp. Set in the heart of Hwange National Park, known as the land of the giants for its large elephant herds, Somalisa is an authentic bush camp, a blend of old African charm and elegance together with an exclusive safari experience. Its stunning location tucked away in an acacia island along the edge of an ancient seasonal flood plain gives it breath taking views of the savannah plains of the famous Kennedy vlei line. At Somalisa Camp, you will experience the heightened romance of the African bush. Six elegantly furnished canvas tents with en suite bathrooms, flush toilet and romantic alfresco bush shower make up this camp. The decor echoes of an old era, from colonial to the ancient tribes of Africa, telling the story from all corners of this magnificent continent. It’s stunning main area and pool lends to complete relaxation with a difference as wildlife often congregates in large herds, offering rare moments of an outstanding nature.

At mealtimes you will discover new and seasonal flavours, which the imaginative chef will present you with, accompanied by a selection of South Africa wines. Activities include guided walks, game drives, spot lighting and game viewing from a platform. The permanent waterholes in this area are the only water for miles in the dry season resulting in a large concentration and variety of wildlife.

Victoria Falls Safari Lodge - 2 nights
At the end of your stay at Somalisa Camp, we drive to the famous Victoria Falls where 3 nights and 2 full days are spent to allow for a tour of the mighty Victoria Falls, a bit of African Art shopping and the cultural and extreme activities that this part of the Zambezi has to offer. On the list are bungee jumping, gorge swing, white-water rafting, skydiving, helicopter and micro-light flights above the falls and elephant back safaris. An optional traditional “Boma” dinner is a cultural highlight with a large selection of African delicacies and game meat on offer accompanied by a traditional performance.
